The Carrs floodplain

The Carrs floodplain just to the south and inland from the Yorkshire Coast near Scarborough is a remarkable and under-appreciated landscape. It is a former wetland dating from the close of the last ice age; a dwelling place of Stone Age people of international repute, with deep dark rich fen peat soils hinting at its mysterious past.
